Many countries celebrate World Refugee Day each year on 20 June. This year it falls on a Friday.

The entire week surrounding World Refugee Day is dedicated to refugees, with events organised for and by refugees.

This year, there will also be a refugee week in Amsterdam: Refugee Welcome Week (RWW) from Monday, 16 June to Sunday, 22 June.

During RWW, refugees and residents come together for events, workshops, art, music, food and sharing stories. This year's theme is Radical Hope rooted in resilience and social justice.

The Refugee Welcome Week programme is partially free of charge

During Refugee Welcome Week, you can attend lectures, talks and informative sessions for free. A ticket for the rest of the programme costs 5 euros.

Team members of RefugeeHelp will be attending the session 'From Online to Offline: Community Built Media & Real World Connection.'

This will concern community building and will take place on Thursday, 19 June from 16:00 to 17:30 in the main building of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam university.
