Expanded remigration assistance to third-country nationals

Have you been forced to flee Ukraine but do not have Ukrainian citizenship? Refugees who resided in Ukraine on the basis of a temporary residence permit and were registered with the municipality in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) before July 19, 2022, can make use of remigration assistance from the Repatriation & Departure Service (DT&V) starting November 15, 2022. This will allow you to travel back to your country of origin or another country outside the European Union. The support includes an amount of €5000 per person, if you travel back before December 31, 2022.

The Dutch government has determined that refugees who resided in Ukraine on the basis of a temporary residence permit will no longer be covered by the Temporary Protection Directive as of March 4, 2023. DT&V is offering more extensive remigration assistance than normal. If you meet the conditions and apply before Feb. 1, 2023, you will receive:

  • Advice and information on remigration;

  • A one-way plane ticket;

  • Escorted departure at Schiphol Airport; and

  • A one-time financial contribution, which you will receive upon departure at Schiphol Airport.

  1. If you apply between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31, 2022, and travel from the Netherlands within 1 month after applying, you will receive compensation of 5,000 euros per person.

  2. If you apply between Jan. 1 and Feb. 1, 2023, and travel from the Netherlands within 1 month after applying, you will receive compensation of 2,000 euros per person.

As of Feb. 1, 2023, regular remigration assistance will be back in effect.

Please note: the remigration support is intended only for refugees from Ukraine, who resided in Ukraine on the basis of a temporary residence permit and were registered the BRP before July 19, 2022.
