Free money exchange extended; also for residence permit holders
The opportunity to exchange up to 10,000 cash hryvnia for euros once free of charge has been extended by three months. This means that until December 15 you can continue to exchange cash at branches of GWK Travelex without extra costs.
This possibility did already exist for refugees with Ukrainian nationality. The government has now decided that people with a permanent or temporary Ukrainian residence permit are also eligible for this. These Ukrainian residence permits must have been valid on February 23, 2022.
The Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) hopes to provide refugees from Ukraine with a residence document by 31 October 2022 at the latest. Afterwards, you can only exchange money via this arrangement if you have a temporary residence document from the IND.
The terms of the government's regulation first stated that people with an expired Ukrainian identity document, equipped with a sticker from the IND, could exchange hryvnia bills at GWK Travelex at certain times. However, this turned out to not be possible. As a result, people with handwritten (Cyrillic) passports can't make use of the regulation.
