New COVID-19 vaccination round launched
The GGDs (Gemeentelijke Gezondheidsdiensten) have launched a new vaccination round to increase protection against COVID-19. First in line are people in the high-risk group and those who have not had a vaccine before. After that, anyone over the age of 12 who wishes to do so can make an appointment at the GGD.
People who belong to the high-risk group are invited for a vaccin by their doctor. This refers to people who, due to an illness or condition, have a higher risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19. Do you think you belong to the high-risk group but your doctor doesn't know yet? Then contact them if you want to get a vaccine.
Everyone who has recently registered in the Basisregistratie Personen (BRP) will receive an invitation letter specifically for newcomers. These letters are sent out monthly.
Anyone who has not previously obtained a COVID-19 vaccination may make an appointment for this already. You can do this by calling (0800) 70 70.
Have you received the first round of vaccines yet? This group of people (aged 12 years or older) will be eligible for a repeat vaccine starting in late October. The RIVM will publish additional information on this at a later date.
Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have been updated to better protect against more variants of the coronavirus. The updated vaccines protect against the original variant as well as the omikron variant. For more information about these new vaccines and the repeat shot, visit the website of the RIVM.
