There are not enough reception centre places in the Netherlands and the situation in some reception centres is poor. As a result, you may have to move to another location. Read here how this works.
In the Ter Apel application location of the
Speaking to NOS, the State Secretary for Justice and Security said that 4,000 to 5,000 more reception centre places need to be added quickly throughout the Netherlands. Only then can the Netherlands again give refugees the reception centre they should receive.
1 of the causes of the shortage of reception centre places is the shortage of housing in the Netherlands. If you have a residence permit, you have a right to housing, but you often end up staying in the reception centre. As there is not enough housing in the Netherlands, many people with a residence permit end up staying in the reception centre for longer.
If you have a residence permit and are living in the reception centre, you may be taken to a hotel in your municipality or in the municipality where you will get housing later. This creates more space in the reception centre for people without residence permits. About 1,360 people with a residence permit are therefore being removed from reception centres. The municipality will arrange housing for these people as soon as possible.
