  • You may work a maximum of 24 weeks per year (52 weeks). As an artist, you may work a maximum of 14 weeks.

  • Your employer has a work permit (TWV) to hire you.

  • Are you under the age of 18? If you are 16 or 17, special rules apply to how long you can work.

. You cannot do this yourself. The UWV decides on the application within 5 weeks. You may work if your employer has the TWV. The TWV is valid for 24 weeks. It does not matter how many hours you work per week. The UWV only looks at the number of weeks you will be working.

If your work permit expires, your employer must apply for a new work permit. You must then first wait 28 weeks for a new permit. During those 28 weeks, you will not be able to work.

Still, your employer might not get a permit for you and have to wait 28 weeks. Your employer can then contact the organisation

If you work for an employer for less than 24 weeks and then find new work, your new employer must reapply for a work permit. You will then receive a work permit for 24 weeks minus the number of weeks you have already worked.

If an employer makes you work without a TWV, this is a crime. Your employer can then be fined. You yourself cannot be fined.
