Starting civic integration after 1 January 2022

If you received a letter from Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) on or after 1 January 2022 about the obligation to undergo civic integration, this step-by-step plan explain how civic integration works.

The municipality will invite you to an interview

You choose the course that best suits you with the municipality

You make a personal plan with the municipality

You participate in a mandatory course on participation (PVT)

You take exams

You pass your civic integration

If you have a residence permit and are between 18 and 67 years old, the government requires you to learn Dutch and get to know Dutch society. This is called civic integration. Read here when and how to start civic integration.
