Civic integration

If you have an asylum residence permit and are between 18 and 67 years old, you get Dutch language lessons. You will also learn about Dutch society. This is called 'civic integration'. Civic integration is mandatory. Read more about it here.

This is how civic integration works

'Civic integration' is something you do to learn the Dutch language. You also learn about Dutch society. This civic integration normally takes a maximum of 3 years. After your civic integration, you can study or work in the Netherlands.

Civic integration system 2021

The 2021 civic integration system applies to you if you received a letter from Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) on or after 1 January 2022 about the civic integration obligation. On this page you can read what you need to do.
