Free online Dutch language course on 17 November by the University of Groningen

Do you want to learn Dutch, but have no experience with the language yet? On 17 November, the free online course 'Introduction to Dutch' by the University of Groningen will start. The course is in English and especially for beginners.

Who is the course for?

The course is designed for beginners who are interested in learning the Dutch language. You do not need any prior knowledge to take the course.

What will you learn?

This course introduces you to simple Dutch words and phrases. For example, you will learn:

  • To introduce yourself.

  • To have simple daily conversations about family, friends, work and study.

  • To get acquainted with Dutch culture and experience.

  • To apply basic vocabulary and grammar in everyday situations.

Why should you participate?

This course helps you build confidence in using the Dutch language. You will learn at your own pace, get explanations from experienced teachers and practice with practical examples from everyday life.

It is a good first step for those who live in the Netherlands or have plans to study or work here.

Practical information

  • Start date: 17 November 2025.

  • How long: for 3 weeks, teachers from the University of Groningen will provide language lessons. Each week participants will have 1 lesson lasting about 3 hours.

  • Course language: English.

  • In order to attend the course, you must register using this link.

  • You can plan your own study time between lessons. There are short videos, exercises and assignments to practice the language.
