The IND will make a decision whether or not to grant you a residence permit

The IND decides whether you will be granted protection

The

assesses whether you need protection in the Netherlands. The IND considers what you said during your interview. The IND also examines your documents and any other information relevant to your application.

The IND mainly uses the written report of your interview. The IND also records the interview. The recording can help to verify later what was said during the interview.

You receive a positive decision

What happens if you receive a positive decision? Then you will be granted an asylum residence permit. This means you are allowed to stay in the Netherlands for the time being.

You will receive a letter from the IND. This letter is called a decision. The decision states which residence permit you will be granted. It also states whether the IND recognises you as a refugee or whether you will be granted subsidiary protection.

You receive a negative decision

What happens if you receive a negative decision) Then the IND is rejecting your asylum application. You will receive a letter from the IND explaining why your application has been rejected.

Do you disagree with the decision? If so, please discuss this with your lawyer as soon as possible. Your lawyer can explain whether you can appeal to the court.
