You will have one interview with the IND in the accelerated asylum procedure

Last updated: 05/05/2025, 14:04

In this interview, the IND will ask questions about you, your journey to the Netherlands and the reason why you have fled. It is important that you tell the IND why you are in danger in your country.

Tell the IND why you are personally at risk

You get only one interview in the accelerated asylum procedure with the

Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND)
about why you are applying for asylum. So you also have only one chance to clearly explain who you are and why you are in danger in your country that the Netherlands says is safe. And why you need protection in the Netherlands. During this interview with the IND, you can submit documents as proof of your flight story. You will receive proof on paper when the IND takes your documents.

Sometimes it is hard to explain about your flight

It is not always easy to explain what you experienced in your country of origin or during your flight. But it is important to explain anyway. Tell the IND if you find it difficult to talk about something. Or if you do not remember something. Then the IND can take this into account. And do you have scars or physical or psychological complaints related to your flight? Tell the IND this too. The IND can offer you a medical examination.

You can talk to an IND employee of your own gender. You can also ask for an interpreter of your own gender. And an employee of

VluchtelingenWerk Nederland (VWN)
can be present at the interview with the IND if you like.

You discuss the IND report with your lawyer

The IND will compile a report of the interview with you. After the interview with the IND, discuss the IND report with your lawyer. Tell your lawyer if information is missing or incorrect in the IND report.
