This is what you need to get health insurance
To purchase health insurance, you need this information:
Citizen service number (BSN)A Dutch bank account
A valid residential address
You can purchase insurance online
Go to the insurance website and choose the insurance you want. Do this within 4 months after you get your asylum residence permit. Fill in your details via the website. You will then be emailed a confirmation of your health insurance and all the terms and conditions. Every year you can choose a new health insurance. You must do this between the beginning of November and the end of December.
If you find it difficult to take out insurance online, you can also call or chat to the insurance company. If you need help, ask a social worker to help you.
If you have made the wrong choice after all, within 14 days you can let your insurance company know that you do not want it after all. So in those 14 days you can cancel the insurance for free and choose another one.
Sometimes you can also get healthcare allowance
If you have a lower income, you can often get a healthcare allowance. This is an amount from the government to pay all or part of your premium.
