The Dutch football team is looking for you! In June, the Netherlands will participate in the EURO UNITY Cup in Frankfurt. You can become a player for the Dutch football team. Read here what you have to do.

What is the EURO UNITY Cup?

On 27, 28 and 29 June it is the EURO UNITY Cup in Frankfurt, Germany. Each country will come with its own team. All teams have a mix of refugee and national amateur players. Both women and men participate. The EURO UNITY Cup is organised by UEFA and UNHCR.

How do you sign up?

Before the UNITY Cup takes place, a special day is organised by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). On this day, everyone can show what they can do. This is called the qualifying tournament – you have to sign up for this. The qualifying tournament is on 19 May 2023 at the KNVB Campus in Zeist.

Free buses will run between 12:30 and 13:30 and between 17:00 and 18:00 from Driebergen - Zeist station.

How does it work?

There are 11 players chosen to play on the Dutch team. If you are on the team, you will be heading to the UNITY Cup in Frankfurt. The team will be coached by René van Rijswijk, who was a professional football player himself.

Participation is free of charge. Accommodation, food, transportation and orange football clothing will be arranged for you and you do not have to pay for it yourself.

Who may sign up?

You can sign up if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older

  • Are a status holder or Ukrainian refugee

  • Have the proper travel documents

  • Are available on 19 May for the tournament in Zeist

  • Are available for two training sessions on 2 and 9 June

  • Are available on 27, 28 and 29 June to go to Frankfurt

You need proper travel documents to travel. As the trip is to Frankfurt, only status holders or Ukrainian refugees can participate in the UNITY Cup.
