You have to wait for your interview with the IND

Last updated: 05/05/2025, 14:03

After you are registered in Ter Apel, you must wait for an interview with the IND about your flight story. This can take several weeks.

You may first receive a TB test

Asylum seekers who come from a country where tuberculosis (TB) is prevalent are first given a

TB test
in the Netherlands. It is important that you participate in this study because you can infect other people if you have TB. Even if you have no symptoms yourself, you should participate in this because you can have TB without knowing it.

VluchtelingenWerk Nederland (VWN) explains how your asylum procedure works

The asylum procedure is complicated. And in the accelerated asylum procedure, you only have one interview with the IND about your asylum application. It is therefore important that you know what will happen and how best to prepare for it. Volunteers from

VluchtelingenWerk Nederland (VWN)
will tell you how the asylum procedure works and which organisations you will have to deal with. You will also be shown an information film in your own language.

You meet with your lawyer before your interview with the IND

Before you have the interview with the

Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND)
, you will meet with your lawyer. Together with your lawyer, you prepare for the interview with the IND. An interpreter (by phone) will translate the interview. Your lawyer is not present at the interview with the IND.
