Starting on 1 October, the IND will begin processing more asylum applications filed before 12 June 2026. Find out the order in which these applications will be reviewed.
Priority is given to asylum applications from people who have already had one interview with the IND

The order in which applications are processed will depend on whether an applicant has already had one or more interviews with the IND. The IND wishes first to gather all the information required to reach a decision
From the end of August 2026, the IND will be sending out invitations to attend an appointment in Utrecht in early October. These invitations will be sent to people who have already had an initial interview (application hearing) with the IND. The appointments in Utrecht will take place at the IND office at Atoomweg 100. During these appointments, the IND aims to gather further information in order to reach a decision on the asylum applications.
In the invitation, the IND may ask you to bring along any documents you have not yet provided. The IND may also ask you to put your asylum story in writing in Utrecht, or to have a brief conversation with you and record this conversation to establish where you come from. The IND may also take a passport photo of you in Utrecht and take your fingerprints if it does not already have them.
So you will not have an interview with anyone from the IND in Utrecht about your asylum application. You may have an interview about this at a later date. The appointment in Utrecht is solely intended to gather all the information needed to reach a decision.
Contact your lawyer straight away if you receive an invitation
It is advisable to contact your lawyer straight away if you receive an invitation to an appointment in Utrecht. Your lawyer can help you prepare for the appointment and answer any questions you may have. For example, about the documents you need to bring with you from the IND.
It is not clear exactly when it will be your turn
Every three months, the IND sends out invitations to a new group of people who applied for asylum before June 2026 and have already had their first interview. You may not receive an invitation by the end of August, but perhaps three months later, for example. Everyone who receives an invitation will have an appointment in Utrecht six weeks later.
You will either be invited to a 2nd interview and receive a decision, or you will receive a decision without a 2nd interview
It is not certain that you will have a 2nd interview with the IND after your appointment in Utrecht. It is also possible that the IND will make a decision on your asylum application right away. In that case, the IND will have determined that it has all the information it needs to make a decision.
If you do end up having a 2nd interview with the IND, you will receive a new invitation for it. This means the IND has determined that a 2nd interview is still necessary in order to make a decision. This 2nd interview will take place approximately 6 weeks after the appointment in Utrecht.
Have you already had a second interview with the IND, or have you not had an interview at all?
If you have not had an interview with the IND at all yet, you will be given an appointment for an initial interview this year. You will then receive information from the IND about the next steps in your asylum procedure.
If you have already had two interviews with the IND and are simply waiting for the IND's decision, you will not be invited to an appointment in Utrecht. The IND will already have sufficient information to make a decision. The IND hopes to reach a decision on your asylum application by March 2027. You will not receive a letter about this in advance. You will automatically receive the decision by post. Please contact your lawyer immediately upon receipt.
