On 10 September, the House of Representatives approved a motion on Ukrainian students. The majority of the Lower House wants Ukrainian students in the Netherlands to pay lower tuition fees. These are Ukrainian young people who fled the war, who want to study at university or college in the Netherlands. Now the Dutch Ministry of Education has to make decisions.
The House of Representatives votes in favour of: study fees for Ukrainian students to be reduced
The
Ukrainian students in the Netherlands now have to pay between €8,000 and €16,000 annually. Dutch students pay €2,601 annually in tuition fees. Added to that are costs for textbooks and living expenses.
As major political parties like the VVD and CDA have agreed to the motion, there is a good chance that the Dutch Ministry of Education will now decide that study fees for Ukrainian students will become as high as the study fees of Dutch students and students from other EU countries studying in the Netherlands. That will be determined later, but when is not yet clear.
