Apply for or renewing your passport

Due to huge crowds at the Ukrainian embassy in the Netherlands, it is not currently possible to apply for a passport. The Ukrainian government has therefore opened special places in Europe to apply for or extend your passport. You cannot currently make an appointment in the Netherlands. Through the link below you can find the available places to apply for or renew your passport.

You need a sticker in your passport to stay in the Netherlands

You need a sticker in your passport to show that you are allowed to live and work in the Netherlands. You get this from the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). With a sticker as proof of residence or O-document, you are entitled to temporary protection in the Netherlands until at least 4 March 2025.

In these cases, you do not need a new sticker

You do not need a new sticker if:

  • You have a new passport because your old passport has expired and your sticker is stuck in the old domestic or foreign passport. Then keep your old passport with the sticker.

  • You got a new passport and you have your sticker on a loose piece of paper. And your sticker is linked to a valid ID card, an expired ID card or a domestic passport. Then keep your loose sticker

  • You applied for a new passport because of your new last name and you have a sticker on a loose piece of paper. Then keep your loose sticker and report the change of your last name to your municipality.

  • You have a new passport and an O-document with a letter from the IND instead of a sticker. Then keep your O-document and the letter from the IND

In these cases, you do need a new sticker

You do need a new sticker if:

  • You have a biometric passport and you have your sticker on a loose piece of paper. And your sticker is linked to a certificate

  • You do not yet have a biometric passport and have your sticker on a loose piece of paper. And your sticker is linked to a certificate. In this case, you must request an O-document and letter from the IND.
