Below you will find a short summary of the most important information about work and income.

Working in the Netherlands

Refugees from Ukraine are allowed to work as employees, because they are exempt from a work permit. An employer who has hired a refugee must report this to the UWV as soon as possible. For all information about work, see the subcategory Working in the Netherlands.

Living allowance

Since 1 April, refugees from Ukraine have been able to claim € 260 living allowance per person, per month. Municipalities may pay part of the living allowance in kind, for example in the form of meals, which means that refugees in some municipalities receive less living allowance. The living allowance is stopped when a refugee has income from work. Family members who do not work will still receive living allowance. For more information on exact amounts and regulations, see the subcategory living allowance.
